REDI for practice

REDI for practice: This professional development CD-ROM provides self-directed opportunities for teachers.

It contains video clips, documents and website links so that teachers can focus their learning to meet their own needs and interests in those areas related to resilience and drug education strategies.

Ready for practice aims to support teachers develop:

  • an understanding of the fundamental importance of resilience to effective drug education and a whole school approach to health and wellbeing
  • an understanding of the purpose and techniques that can be used for promoting student resilience through interactive and inclusive strategies within and beyond the classroom
  • awareness of the REDI resources available to support and enrich teaching practice.

  • Ready for practice has been designed as a self-directed resource meaning users:

    • are responsible for deciding what and when they learn from the information provided
    • can move about the CD-ROM and use its features to meet their own learning goals and preferences
    • can use this CD-ROM either as an adjunct to other drug education PD activities or as a core strategy for PD in the area.

    Ready for practice contains three Case Stories that focus on using interactive and inclusive strategies in the classroom:

    • Year 5 students work on a unit related to friends, change and wellbeing
    • Year 8 students work on a unit related to alcohol and decision-making
    • Year 10 students work on a unit related to illicit drugs and decision-making.
